Saint Brigid of Kildare’s SPiCE program (Special People
In Catholic Education) advocates serving the educational needs of children with learning differences and benefits all children by promoting diversity in the classroom. SPiCE supports the enrichment of the learning environment for all children in the parish school and the parish religious education program, through teacher training, dedicated personnel, support materials, special equipment, and parent education. We collaborate with a small but growing number of parish SPiCE committees in the Columbus Diocese, working together to promote and expand a commitment to inclusive Catholic education
at primary and secondary levels.
Spiritan Worldwide Aid Foundation (Wheaton, MD)
Biography
Our fundamental driving force is the Christian Vision, the mandate of Jesus Christ to love our neighbor, especially as it pertains to the poor. The development of people and the fostering of charity and justice in the world is equally our objective. The Foundation’s policies reflect and express the teaching of the Catholic Church. As such, it is open to all peoples in good will. The Spiritan Foundation is the fundraising organization for the East and West Provinces of the Holy Ghost Fathers, Brothers, and Associates. The purpose of the Foundation is to raise funds and awareness about the Congregation and the Provinces. Formation in authentic Christian womanhood is at the heart of the educational mission of the Academy. The curriculum has been designed to facilitate this mission. The Academy will create an environment and employ a pedagogy iniquely suited to the needs of young women with the explicit purpose of educating and forming them to fulfill their unique vocations as women. Accordingly, our mission acknowledges the gift of motherhood to which all women are called, whether physical or spiritual. The perception that women’s education and the vocation to motherhood are in opposition to one another is a false dichotomy and women’s education has suffered as a result. St. Peter’s Elementary School was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1878. Since its foundation, St. Peter’s continues to serve all economic levels of the community providing a rich academic curriculum. St Thomas Aquinas Tutorial (‘STAT”) is a Catholic home schooling tutorial program meeting twice weekly which provides excellent academic instruction for grades two through eight using the Mother of Divine Grace Curriculum. STAT supports the moral, intellectual, physical and spiritual formation begun in the homes of Catholic homeschooling families. Established in 2011 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
