Biography

We provide a full range of services designed to give our boys what they need to become productive members of society: small group living, special education, individual and group therapy, social services to family, vocational counseling, out-patient medical services, speech therapy/occupational therapy, dental care, psychological testing, room and board, development of vocational skills, job counseling, recreational services on grounds and in the local community, information and referral.

The vast majority of our boys live at the school in one of our houses. Professional house parents provide for the needs of each child.

The McGlynn Center is a safe and welcoming place for the children and youth of the two family developments of the Wilkes-Barre Housing Authority: Boulevard Townhomes and Mineral Springs Village. In each respective neighborhood the Center provides educational, recreational, social, and health programs on a consistent and on-going basis to enhance the children’s potential to become successful and productive citizens

We, the members of the McNeese State University Newman Club, are witnesses and leaders of our faith who are grounded in Christ’s teachings and the sacramental life of the Catholic Church. We serve God by serving others and are called to be open to all God’s people. We promise to serve others in a spirit of mutual support, acceptance and respect while being committed to our own spiritual, emotional and educational enrichment. Mercy Cares is a Mercy Medical program offering home care and support to homebound seniors at no cost. In keeping with our mission of assuring that the most needy are provided with care, this program grew from the realization that many seniors who have exhausted Medicare benefits and who have fixed incomes cannot afford ongoing home care. This program, supported by grants and individual gifts, offers a safety net of support for these individuals assuring that they can remain in their homes more safely while assuring that each patient receives ongoing assessment and care.

Mercy Clinic provides primary healthcare services to the neediest residents of Webb County. Mercy’s focus is on prevention and control of chronic illness through education and patient compliance. Patients are coached to become advocates of their own health. Mercy is not a free clinic. Patients make co-pays for their services based on the outcome of their financial screening.

Established in 1994, the Ministry of the Good Shepherd is a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization located in Boca Raton, Florida and affiliated with the Parish of St Joan of Arc, also in Boca Raton, and the Cork Diocesan Mission in Peru. The Ministry of the Good Shepherd is devoted to living out the Gospel of Jesus, to serving the poor with compassion, to seeking relationships of solidarity with them and to showing respect for the dignity of people through empowerment and education. Our vision is a world in which the Gospel is lived and alive in skilled, educated, empowered and transformed communities of faith.
