Biography

Following in our Savior’s footsteps, good works keep His Way visible by bringing Sunday TV Mass, prayer publications, and online inspiration to Catholics who cannot get out to church. Heart of the Nation becomes a blessing for multitudes in times of illness, frailty, inclement weather, or other struggles. Since 1984, Heart of the Nation has produced Sunday TV Mass with compassion for the faithful at home, in healthcare settings, or in prison. In 2011, Heart of the Nation began publication of its free, large-print Prayer & Worship Guide to help subscribers with poor eyesight, hearing loss, or simply a desire to have the Scripture readings, prayers, and responses at hand to follow along during Mass.

Priests, musicians, choirs, cantors, and lectors participate in the production of the TV Mass. A local parish donates the use of its church. Multiple cameras and closed-captioning enable immersion in the hope-filled experience of the Catholic liturgy. Viewers send their prayer intentions, and each prayer is placed before the altar for Sunday TV Mass. During the distribution of the Eucharist at church, the TV Mass includes a treasured prayer for spiritual communion written by St. Alphonsus Liguori. Heart of the Nation brings spiritual joy and help to lifelong Catholics, to Catholics who have been away from the Church but seek a way back, and to TV and online Mass viewers discovering the Catholic faith for the first time. By serving the sick, frail, lonely, and brokenhearted, donors to Heart of the Nation serve the Lord.

In its humble beginning, Heart of the Nation began broadcasting TV Mass in Los Angeles. Now, Heart of the Nation televises Sunday liturgy on over-the-air, cable, satellite, and online TV channels nationwide. Television airtime is Heart of the Nation’s largest expense. Following the Lord’s directive to go out to all the world, the ministry’s Website, YouTube channel, and social media provide global access to the Sunday TV Mass.

The periodical Prayer & Worship Guide contains the text for every Sunday and Holy Day Mass. For use throughout each week, the Prayer & Worship Guide also provides reflections, seasonal prayers from Heart of the Nation, and a section showing where to find the daily Mass readings in a home Bible. Other free publications from Heart of the Nation include inspirational monthly bulletins, a Catholic calendar for wall display, prayer cards, and a Stations of the Cross pamphlet.

God, the source of grace and every blessing, often works through people in wondrous ways. Supporters of Heart of the Nation, the Catholic ministry of Santa Fe Communications, Inc., provide an offering to the Lord and a gift of spiritual comfort, hope, and encouragement in the Catholic faith for people in need.
