Biography

The mission of the is grounded in Judeo-Christian values and the challenges of Catholic Social Teaching, which emphasizes solidarity with those in poverty throughout the world. The Center’s main focus is social justice and the transformation of inequitable structures and systems. The work of the Center of Concern has been directed at analyses of globalization through the lens of gender, class, and race, with a concern for human rights, especially economic and social rights. Working with a wide range of networks and coalitions, the Center contributes to international policy discussions and promotes people-centered economic development through education and advocacy. The Center reaches out to a range of faith-based communities, churches and schools; to grassroots groups and other non-government organizations working for the common good; and to members of the international women’s movement committed to justice for all women, their families, and communities.
