Edmundite Missions

A compelling example of philanthropy as the outreach of God’s love is the work of the Edmundite Missions in Selma, Alabama. It is an especial pleasure to bring this apostolate to the attention of our readers because the President and C.E.O. of the Edmusndite Missions is Mr. Chad McEachern, one of NCCF’s long serving board members.

Headquartered in Selma, Alabama, the Edmundite Missions has been serving the men, women and children living in poverty-stricken communities throughout the Deep South since 1937. Founded by two members of the Society of St. Edmund, we continue to follow our founder’s call to, “Do the best we can, with what we have, to serve those most in need.” Through our ministry, we meet immediate needs by providing food, clothing and shelter for thousands of people. We also exemplify service to solutions by offering mentorship, apprenticeships and educational programs for youth and adults, providing a pathway towards self-reliance.

Guided today by our mission statement and the faithfulness of our donors, we will never step away from the traditional pillars of our ministry: nutrition, clothing, education, and housing. However, we are continuing to evolve to turn our service into solutions while addressing the systemic issues associated with poverty.

Some of our newest initiatives include: The Black Farmers Initiative, which provides grants and other support for local, Black-owned farms to increase their ability to produce which improves the local economy and provides fresh produce for the Missions, the Forwards with the Missions Fellowship Program, which provides financial assistance to students who have achieved their LPN during their final year of studies to retain their RN, increasing their average yearly salary by more than double and changing the futures of entire families, and the Edmundite Missions Center for Workforce Development, which works with those who are struggling to enter the workforce to gain the soft skills and other skills needed to obtain employment and achieve self-reliance.
