Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA
Biography
The AMS was established as a separate U.S. archdiocese by Saint John Paul in 1985, with the responsibility to provide for the pastoral care of Catholics serving in the five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, enrolled in the five U.S. Military Academies, undergoing treatment at any of the 153 Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (U.S., Puerto Rico, and Guam), employed by the federal government in positions beyond U.S. borders, and for the families of these populations. The AMS is the only U.S. diocese responsible for endorsing and granting faculties to priests and deacons to serve this particular group of approximately 1.8 million men, women, and children, Catholic faithful who originate from all U.S. dioceses.
Archdiocese of Boston Office for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs (Brighton, MA)
Biography
In the affirmation of its relationship with other Christians, the Church in the Archdiocese of Boston commits itself to pray and to work for that unity for which Jesus prayed. In the service of this commitment to Christian unity — known as ecumenism — the Church relates to other Christians, both Orthodox and Protestant. The Church in this Archdiocese also holds in esteem the people of other faiths. It pledges its efforts toward better understanding of others’ beliefs and collaboration in our common concerns for the dignity and welfare of every person. In these efforts — known as interreligious or interfaith relations — the Church wishes to attend to those special bonds already linking it with the Jewish community, to that part of its heritage shared with the Muslims, and to the similar spiritual goals and values of other religions. The office of Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs is devoted to promoting understanding and cooperation among peoples of all faiths.

“To heal wounds, to bind what is broken, to bring home those who are lost” – Saint Francis of Assisi.
Assumption Church is a Roman Catholic community in the Franciscan tradition. The Franciscan Friars Conventual of Our Lady of the Angels Province together with Franciscan Sisters, lay Franciscans, parishioners and volunteers work together to build a community of faith which is active in service to Syracuse’s Northside community. Our Church is home to a parish dating back to 1845. Today this community draws members from all over CNY who worship and form community in the inclusive, down-to-earth spirit of Saints Francis and Clare of Assisi.
Assumption Church and its outreach ministries, brings the Gospel message of peace, reconciliation and love to our neighbors in the spirit of Saints Francis and Clare of Assisi. Like many cities, Syracuse has growing number of residents who lack a hope and meaning as well as the most basic requirements to survive, such as food, clothing, medical care, and in many cases, simple compassion. Our largest outreach efforts include a: Food Pantry & Soup Kitchen, Health Center for the uninsured and Chapel inside the mega mall Destiny USA.

Assumption Seminary is a bilingual and multi-cultural community of priestly formation. This seminary exists for the personal, spiritual, theological and ministerial preparation of diocesan seminarians for the Roman Catholic Church. Assumption Seminary’s goal is to enable Christ-centered men to grow and develop as collaborative and culturally sensitive pastoral leaders committed to the gospel.

We sustain international partnerships with local organizations to broaden impact in the areas of education, early childhood and youth development, economic livelihoods, health and nutrition. AVSI-USA connects people across borders, creating opportunities for solidarity and friendship that go beyond simple economic support towards enriching life experiences.
AVSI-USA is a member of the AVSI Foundation, an international NGO started in 1972 by members of the Catholic lay movement Communion and Liberation. AVSI Foundation continues its mission of promoting human development with a focus on education, according to Catholic social teaching. AVSI Foundation implements over 100 humanitarian and development projects in 30 countries in partnership with private donors, international agencies and businesses.
