Biography

The Maryland Catholic Conference serves as a forum for common witness on matters affecting reform of the temporal order and as a principal agent for effective action in the realm of public policy. Founded in 1963 by the Catholic bishops serving Maryland, the Conference works with the Maryland legislature and state and local government agencies to advance the mutual public policy interests of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, the Archdiocese of Washington, and the Diocese of Wilmington. Conference Advocacy focuses on anti-poverty and healthcare matters, justice and pro-life issues (including abortion, euthanasia, and capital punishment), family-life considerations, and education.
