Biography

Elizabeth Seton High School educates young women in the spirit of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Vincent DePaul stressing Catholic values, academic excellence and service to those in need. We serve a diverse population from several counties in Maryland and the District of Columbia. The socioeconomic status of the students attending Elizabeth Seton High School ranges from low income to middle income. Of our students, 50% receive financial assistance and single-parent homes make up 29% of the student body. Special support is given to the financially poor as far as possible. The school provides a challenging college preparatory program for all young women who seek a community that celebrates diversity and creativity, fosters moral, spiritual, academic and physical growth, and promotes the Gospel values through service to others. Seton provides students with a solid academic foundation designed to stimulate intellectual curiosity and a love of learning. Our students are challenged to think critically, to organize their thoughts logically and to express ideas effectively. Our mission gives the student a strong foundation for growth in Christian leadership and service for the future. We are in a unique position, not only to educate young women academically but also to address the needs of our students as they take their place in a culturally diverse society.
