World Villages for Children

World Villages for Children is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit dedicated to financially supporting the efforts of the Sisters of Mary. The Sisters of Mary educate and care for over 20,000 orphaned and impoverished children in seven different countries around the world. Founded by Venerable Fr. Al Schwartz from Washington D.C., the Sisters of Mary have helped malnourished children break free from the cycle of poverty since 1964.

56 years later, World Villages for Children has remained a one of a kind charity for Catholics to practice the corporal works of mercy in the form of giving alms to the poor. The Sisters of Mary feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, cloth the naked, and shelter the homeless, poorest of the poor, children in South Korea, the Philippines, Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil, Honduras, and Tanzania. No other religious order provides food, shelter, clothing, a Catholic education, vocational training, and unconditional motherly-love seven days a week, 365 days of the year, to over 20,000 poverty-stricken children worldwide.

Today, there are 150,000 graduates from the Sisters of Mary School programs across the globe. These spiritual children of the Sisters of Mary, have jobs, families, and children of their own thanks to the love and devotion of their “Mother-Sisters.” More impressive than the vocational training they received to become productive, independent members of society, these graduates were given the opportunity to become disciples of Jesus Christ. Calling themselves the “Miracles of Fr. Al,” after Venerable Fr. Al Schwartz, these once poor children are now rich in Christ’s love, feeding a world that is spiritually starving.
