Our Mission

Our Mission:

The National  Catholic Community Foundation recognizes the compelling presence of the Holy Spirit among donors in the United States. Therefore, we seek to provide them with philanthropic vehicles which accommodate their desires to support charitable, religious cultural, and educational activities in a manner that is effective, lasting, and reflective of the human dignity proclaimed by the Gospel and affirmed by the Roman Catholic Church in the Second Vatican Council.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We are not fund raisers. Rather, we are here to serve donors. We believe philanthropy is a ministry. Like all ministries, it enriches both the giver and the receiver.  For this reason, we strongly encourage donors to involve their families in the decision process relating to the funds they establish. We find that ‘family philanthropy’ is an effective way for parents to inculcate values in younger generations.

Our co-founders understand that the work of the Holy Spirit is not limited to organizations operating under the aegis of the Catholic Church. Therefore, while the great majority of the grants our donors request be made from their funds are distributed to Catholic organizations, our trustees respect and consider requests by donors that distributions be made to charities whose activities are consistent with the Gospel and do not contravene the teachings of the Catholic Church.

OUR SERVICES BENEFIT A DIVERSE GROUP

  • Donors interested in long-term philanthropy
  • Charitable organizations requiring assistance with their fundraising
  • Charitable organizations seeking networking opportunities
  • Financial and estate planners

OUR SERVICES

As a community foundation, we provide a variety of services both to individual donors and to non-profit organizations or charities:

  • Donor-Advised Funds, where the donor retains the right to advise our trustees on which charities should receive distributions, and when and how much;
  • Donor-Designate Fund, where the fund is established to provide perpetual support for a charity designated by the donor
  • Filed-of-interest-Funds, where the donor creates a fund to support an area of interest such as Catholic education, health care, etc.
  • Charitable Lead and Remainder Trusts, where a donor establishes a trust for the current or eventual benefit of a charity and the National Catholic Community Foundation serves as Trustee
  • Charitable Gift Annuities (donor initiated), where a donor purchase from NCCF a charitable gift annuity in support of a selected charity
  • Charitable Gift Annuities ( initiated by charity); where a charitable organization creates a fund at NCCF and invites its donors to purchase charitable gift annuities in support of that fund
  • Catalog of Ministries, a list of non-profit organizations around the world who have communicated with NCCF, including their mission statements and contact information
