At Catholic Charities West Michigan we follow in the footsteps of Christ as we strive to provide help and create hope for those most in need. We are a community-based agency providing a variety of services ranging from prevention and education to crisis intervention. All of our programs are designed utilizing a holistic approach that help both individuals and their families succeed.
The Kolbe Center is our latest program providing a much-needed resource in the Muskegon community. With opioid and alcohol related deaths in the county being the 8th highest per capita in the United States, there is an immediate need for specialized services in the region. The Kolbe Center is the first specialized detox center in the county and a critical piece in the puzzle for those working to overcome chemical dependency, alcoholism, and co-occurring mental health disorders in a safe, confidential and supportive environment.
As an agency with an established presence locally, we are well placed to show God’s love by offering lifesaving support through high quality, medically-supervised detoxification services to all who approach us in need. The center offers 3-5 night stays at our 14-bed facility, with a capacity to serve over 700 clients annually. We strive to provide our clients with the most effective treatments available, using an evidence-based and individualized approach that employs cutting-edge therapies and services. Our comprehensive approach allows clients to have access to personal and group therapies, utilizing a mix of trauma informed-cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and solution-focused therapy. Our program also includes family education, relapse prevention and aftercare services.
This program was designed by Catholic Charities together with regional detox experts. We have acquired CARF accreditation and strive to meet all standards of high-quality care. The center is led by an experienced Medical Director, who is a regional expert in these services. We continuously collaborate with community mental health agencies, recovery support specialists, recovery housing, support groups, physicians, employers, local restaurants and other community partners to support our clients in taking their next steps successfully.
