Good Shepherd Services (New York, NY)
Biography
Rooted in work initiated by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in 1857, Good Shepherd Services is a leading youth development, education and family service agency that positively affects the lives of over 20,000 New York City children and families each year. Focusing on high-need communities in Brooklyn and the Bronx, the agency provides a broad array of individual, family and school-based services to prevent youth from becoming disconnected from family, school and society and help those who are already disengaged to find hope and motivation to reconnect with their community. When young people cannot stay in their families, Good Shepherd provides a safety net of superior quality foster care and residential programs, as it has throughout its history. Good Shepherd Services’ mission remains constant in a changing world: to lead in the development of innovative programs that ensure access to a more promising future for our program participants; to advocate zealously for principles necessary to empower those with whom we work; and to provide quality service to individuals consistent with their dignity, and to communities consistent with their needs.
