Socially Responsible Investing

Faith-based investment strategies

For over two decades, the National Catholic Community Foundation provided donors funding options to help them become more effectively engaged in philanthropy in a manner that honors the human dignity proclaimed in the Gospel and affirmed by the Roman Catholic Church.

Through a partnership with our investment advisors at  Brown Advisory and Haverford Trust Company, we have the opportunity to drive long-term portfolio returns and further align our investments to our mission, in creating a more just, ethical and safer society.

Brown Advisory and Haverford Trust Company have significant experience in helping Catholic institutions develop and implement faith-based investment strategies that follow the socially-responsible guidelines codified by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

The USCCB guidelines focus on:
  • Protecting human life and dignity
  • Reducing arms production
  • Promoting economic justice
  • Protecting the environment and encourage corporate responsibility

We are excited to announce that the Board of Trustees adopted investment criteria that are compliant with the USCCB guidelines, including the use of negative screening and strategies that have an ESG (environmental, social and governance) focus. These criteria are applied in highly diversified portfolios across asset classes and geography. Mission-aligned and prudent investment management enhances the stewardship provided by NCCF.
